Tony Beddison Cup at Moonee Valley – Race 6 By guest reviewer by Todd Burmester As quickly as the very good horses came for the Spring they have now all been whisked away to rest up and to then prepared for the Autumn. That however is no disrespect to those running tomorrow and there is a winner to be found in every race. The Open Handicap at Moonee Valley is race 6 and it has drawn together a fair field. Eraset is likely to start favourite in the race and probably deserves to be. He has all but gotten the money at his last two starts but I do note they were restricted grade races where is this is open company. Cosmic Causway is the other that will challenge for favouritism but I do notice in some early markets it has been friendless in betting. It’s last two runs were in open company and it has performed well. It is a winner at Moonee Valley and twice a winner at the distance. It is also from the all conquering Moody stable. The old boy Jungle Ruler ran them off their legs in the Mornington Cup last start and he will no doubt look to do that again here. There is a bit of speed engaged here though and I can’t see him getting it all his own way. A horse right down the bottom that could well be on the way up is Scaredymac. It was no disgrace to run second to Sublimity last start which has a bit of ability. With a weight advantage here and a claim to further add to that he may be the value at around $10. I’ll go Cosmic Causway and Scaredymac as the top two selections, but in what is a competitive race others such as La Rocket, War Ends and Veewap also have their chance.
