Victorian pro-punter Trevor Lawson brings you his Flemington Quaddie tips for Saturday. He’s targeting the second leg, going skinny and backing in just three runners to find the line first.

Race 6 – Bluegrass Bar Trophy (1400m)

Numbers: 2, 3, 4, 6, 10

Flying Krupt (2) is in career best form and looks well graded here with the claim. Jockey unbeaten on mare. Naantali (3) ran well first-up then may not have been comfortable when inside horses last start. Drawn to get a clear run here. Twitchy Frank (4) got out late before being strong to the line last start. Step to 1400m looks ideal. Amortentia (6) ran well first-up off a long spell. Good record this distance and second-up. Ocean Deep (10) ran well last start in solidly-run race. Maps to get good run here.

Race 7 – Paddock Bar Plate (1100m)

Numbers: 1, 4, 7

I’m Wesley (1) comes back in trip off a month’s break. Has run well down the straight in the past. Has winning ways. Invincible Al (4) ran well last start when narrowly beaten down the straight. Has terrific straight track stats. Order Of Command (7) is another with good straight track form. Strong through the line last start over 1000m. Looks better suited here to 1100m.

Race 8 – Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m)

Numbers: 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13

Cabeza De Vaca (4) is a Sydney galloper who comes here fresh. Blinkers go on again, looks a target race, has raced well fresh in past. Call Me Handsome (5) had no luck when resuming. Solid record at trip and can improve on first-up run here. Cool Chap (7) resumes here and has trialled nicely leading into this. Hasn’t won for a long time but well down in class here. Holbien (10) is racing consistently and has a sound record at this distance. Should be thereabouts. Leodoro (11) has not been suited either run this prep. Steps out to 1400m, can improve. Manolo Blahniq (12) is two runs back from a spell and steps to 1400m, at which he produced a peak figure last prep. Will be strong late. Mr. Money Bags (13) is racing well. Won this track and distance last start. Drawn slightly awkward but solid claims with right run in race.

Race 9 – The Roof Garden Handicap (1100m)

Numbers: 5, 8, 13, 18, 20

I Am Someone (5) exploded last start, running an extremely fast time at Bendigo. Doesn’t have to rate anywhere near that to be the horse to beat here. Vainstream (8) hasn’t had much luck in any run this prep. Did race well this in previous prep. Could improve here. Sir Kalahad (13) is racing well and ran well at Sale over this distance in good time. Drawn out which may be an advantage late in the day. Illumicon (18) was a terrific winner first-up last prep and has trialled nicely leading into this. Had excuses in only straight run in the past. Queen Becki (20) put in a terrific run first-up this prep. Had a long time off but trialled nicely. Good claims if forward enough.
