Flemington Quaddie Preview

Melbourne Ratings analyst Trevor Lawson is looking for two straight Quaddie collects with this week’s Flemington Quaddie tips.

Last week’s Quaddie dividend paid $441 for 100% and he will be hoping for an even better result this time around.

Race 6 - VRC Member Darren Allsop Handicap (2000m)

Selections: 4, 5, 10, 12, 13, 19

Kaching (4) is racing well and steps to 2000m for the first time here, but looks suited to it. The Statesman (5) rolled back in the worst part of the track last start. Is fourth-up here out to 2000m and potentially gets a drier track, can improve dramatically. Orakei Overlord (10) steps to 2000m for the first time but looks suited. Solid run last start and battled on well. Can roll forward. Fontein Lad (12) has a solid record at this distance and will be thereabouts. Haripour (13) improved dramtically second-up, then was a little flat last start. Fourth-up out to 2000m and with the senior jock on can improve. The Passage (19) is an emergency still looking for a run, but has been racing consistently and looks ready for this trip.

Race 7 - Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 1, 2, 7, 8

Home Of The Brave (1) is a former overseas galloper who has a solid record. Trialled twice is Sydney brilliantly behind quality horses and looks to have class. Voodoo Lad (2) ran well two starts back, then last time gave the winner too big a start. Has raced okay down the straight and is drawn to get a nice bit of cover. The horse to beat. Poetic Dream (7) was sensationally backed at its first Australian start over 1400m. Returns from spell here and has trialled terrifically with blinkers. Has the blinkers here, look for a forward showing. Camdus (8) is an honest galloper and always thereabouts, has run well down the straight in the past.

Race 8 - VRC Member Damian Cubela Handicap (1400m)

Selections: 1, 4, 5, 6, 10

Moss ’N’ Dale (1) has been given a short break since the Winter Championships final. Will roll forward from the barrier, chances grow with a wetter track. Husson Eagle (4) ran well last start at second try at 1400m. Can run well again if tempo suits. Cool Chap (5) has had runs spaced. Was solid this track and distance two starts ago then never really ran on last time over 1600m. 1400m suits, chance at odds. It’s D-day for Theanswermyfriend (6). Is third-up for Weir. Good record at track and distance – winning twice and two narrow defeats. Surely takes lead here, though would prefer it on a dry track. Night’s Watch (10) resumes here. Better over slightly longer but is undefeated first-up. Stable jock goes on. Barthelona (14) had not a lot of luck over past two runs. Three runs ago produced a huge figure over this track and distance. Maps well and can bounce back to somewhere near best.

Race 9 - VRC Members Handicap (1700m)

Selections: 5, 6, 8, 10

Guizot (5) was terrific effort last start coming from last with the pace on. Previous runs were solid, is a consistent type and can hold rating here. Mantastic (6) finally broke through last start sitting three-wide. All four runs in Australia have been solid, can hold rating here. Sikandarabad (8) had a terrific win last start at Sandown when soft on the line. Fourth-up here, scope to improve again. Al Galayel (10) had a terrific win at its first Australian start, and then was a bit flat second-up. Comes here fourth-up off a nice jumpout, can bounce back..
