Flemington Quaddie tips

Victorian pro-punter Trevor Lawson brings you his Flemington Quaddie tips for Saturday’s meeting.

Race 6 - Australian Cup nominations close Monday 21st Jan (1400m)

Selections: 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11

Leodoro (2) hasn’t been suited either run this prep. Has a good bank of figures from previous preps, can improve here third-up. Mastering (4) had EPC last start over this distance. Well found early but still has claims. Rib Eye (6) resumes here. Generally runs well fresh. Had three trials for this prep. Kaching (7) was never likely first-up when had to go back from wide barrier. Better draw here and can improve dramatically. Set To Sparkle (8) is on the quick back-up from winning last Saturday. Solid effort in a quickly-run race. Can improve again here. Hay Now (10) had a solid win last start. Drawn a bit wide here but drops significantly in weight, albeit up in class. Mount Kilcoy (11) is a promising stayer resuming here. Has trialled nicely. Can run well if fancied.

Race 7 - Kensington Stakes (1000m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 5

Thermal Current (1) is racing well. Not suited past couple, but last win was at this track and distance. Champagne Cuddles (2) is a quality mare resuming here. Is good fresh, first run in Victoria Heart Of A Lion (3) is a 9YO resuming here. Has a terrific record fresh. Will be thereabouts if he hasn’t lost any zip. Glenall (5) is a good horse fresh. Resumes off a lengthy spell but did trial brilliantly for this.

Race 8 - Bitalli Handicap (1800m)

Selections: 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13

Jerilderie Letter (1) ran well last start at Warrnambool. Has claims if can maintain rating. Black Sail (3) put in an honest effort last start. Steps up in trip but has run well at this track and distance before. Five Kingdom (6) is racing consistently. Rising in class here but does look up to it. Kentucky Breeze (7) is another who’s racing consistently and can hold rating here. Fastnet Latina (9) was never likely last start when had to go back from a wide barrier. Rattled home running second-quickest last 200m of day. Kilmacurragh (11) put in a terrific effort last start when best of the on-pacers. Fourth-up here, should be ready to run to best. Laure Me In (13) was arguably a good thing beaten last two starts. Badly held up at Caulfield, then had to go back from wide gate last start. 1800m here suits.

Race 9 - Victorian Owner Gold Card Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15

Just Hifalutin (4) held ground first-up off long spell. Has good record this track and distance. Can improve here second-up. Order Of Command (5) was slightly disappointing last start but was held up. 1200m looks a positive. Streets Of Avalon (7) put in a terrific on-pace effort first-up. Good claims here if can hold rating second-up. Castelo (10) is racing well. Good claims here if can hold rating. Intuition (11) ran nicely last start in Sydney, has claims if handles straight. Exceltara (12) was heavily backed last start but had interrupted run. Flashed home running the quickest last 600/400/200 of the day. Sound effort last start at this track and distance and gets Williams on. Likely improver Langhro’s (15) condition gave out last start off a long spell. Untried down the straight but goes well second-up. Can improve.
