Moonee Valley Quaddie Preview

Some big fields and open races has Trev going wide in his Moonee Valley Quaddie this week.

A 17-horse field in the final leg will be a big test to bring it home.

Race 6 - Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m)

Selections: 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 15

Spanish Whisper (4) is former Kiwi having first start in Australia. Looked to come through some good form races and trialled brilliantly leading into this. Gongs (5) comes through some good 2YO races in Sydney in the Autumn and had two trials leading into this. Should be fit enough to run well. Anjana (7) is an undefeated filly who ran terrific figures last prep. Resumes off a short let-up here. Walked in at only start here. Humma Humma (8) is an honest filly who’s run well in each run this prep. Can hold rating. Fidelia (13) ran well here two starts ago over shorter trip, and hit line well last trip over 1100m. Will be running on. Alexandra Dreaming (15) was super impressive when unwanted in betting on debut. Ran very fast time. Drawn wide here but can negate barrier with a quick getaway.

Race 7 - Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Stakes (1200m)

Selections: 2, 8, 10, 11, 12

Osborne Bulls (2) won well at Caulfield at last start when running on. Inside barrier won’t suit and will need a good ride, but has class on side. Bella Martini (8) was given a strange ride first-up when they went back from the barrier. Should roll forward here and has run well here in the past. Oak Door (10) resumes a gelding here. Has run well here in past, jockey has won on it before, looks a target race. Tulip (11) ran well first-up here when unfancied and can roll forward from barrier again. Only has to hold rating. Iconoclasm (12) came through the same race as Tulip last start. Tempo didn’t quite suit, can run well here in a race that looks to have more speed.

Race 8 - Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m)

Selections: 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10

Hartnell (1) is second-up at 1600m. Ran nicely first-up and has solid claims. Odeon (4) has had two runs back which have been okay, but does have form pattern where he improves dramatically third-up. Drawn to get a good run. Homesman (6) resumes here from autumn. Had two runs over further which were both solid. Keep safe. Night’s Watch (7) is on the quick backup to 1600m. Terrific win last week at similar time to Humidor. This race is Caulfield Cup exempt and he’ll be hitting the line hard. Bonneval (9) is a quality mare resuming off a long spell, but did easily account for Hartnell this time last year. Want on my side. Spanish Reef (10) is another quality mare who has run well here in the past. Will settle in forward position which looks ideal.

Race 9 - Craig Opie Cup (1600m)

Selections: 3, 5, 9, 13, 14, 18

Moss ’N’ Dale (3) had a better run last start here over a slightly shorter trip. Positive map here and well in with the claim. Divine Unicorn (5) is a Queenslander whose form on paper reads well, must include. Rhythm To Spare (9) is an old timer racing well. Drawn wide but is well graded. Zahspeed (13), the Darwin Cup winner, resumes for Stokes. On-pacer who ran well in Victoria in the past. Mihany (14) ran better last start on the pace. Can cross from the outside here and has claims if left alone in front. Our Peaky Blinders (18) is an emergency at the moment. No luck first-up, senior rider goes on here, and the step in distance all looks positive.

With Spring finally here the racing is starting to heat up.
