Trevor Lawson’s Moonee Valley Quaddie

Who has our Victorian pro-punter included in this week's Quaddie?

Moonee Valley Quaddie tips

Pro-punter Trevor Lawson brings you his Moonee Valley Quaddie tips for this Friday’s night meeting.

It’s a wide Quaddie at the moment – there’s emergencies in that will have a good chance if they get a run, and there’s sure to be a few scratchings. Trev’s included them all for now, and will wait and see who gets taken out.

Race 5 - 55 Second Challenge Heat 8 (955m)

Selections: 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12

REWARD WITH RETURN (1) won well two starts back here, then had not a lot of luck last start. Should be competitive from the good draw. REDCORE (4) ran well first-up. Has a good record this distance range and has run well second-up in the past. TBILISI (6) has had a freshen-up since winning over this track and distance. Can repeat rating here. I AM SOMEONE (7) had no luck first-up, then was beaten second-up by an impressive winner. Second horse has won since. Produced equal best rating third-up last prep. GOLDEN LUSTRE (8) ran well last start and has run okay here in the past. Can hold rating. FREEZE OVER (11) is third-up here and should be getting to peak fitness. Can improve off last couple of runs. SWIZZLE STICKS (12) ran a very quick time at Mornington in first run on a good track. Doesn’t have to run to that figure here to be competitive.

Race 6 - Australian Unity Handicap (2040m)

Selections: 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10

PRINCE ZIGGY (2) is racing consistently lately. Well graded with the claim. Suited this trip. CLEO’S POET (4) is an on-pacer who went too quick last week. Solid claims here if well rated. PIERROCITY (7) is racing well this prep. Had to go back from wide barrier last start before running on well. Can settle closer from better draw, is ready to peak. CASTLE ROCK (8) was an impressive maiden winner at Kyneton. Looks to be able to progress off that rating here. INAYFORHAY (9) ran okay last start at first time this distance range. Should improve here. HIGH SIERRA (10) was never likely second-up. Better suited this trip. May need one more, but still has claims.

Race 7 - Mittys Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14

WELL SPRUNG (1) is first-up here. Returns to original trainer. Has good record this trip and will get home hard. SHERIFF JOHN STONE (2) has been given a slight freshen-up since failing down the straight. Was racing well prior to that. THIS KID ROCKS (3) had no luck last start. Has run well here in past and senior rider goes on. FREEHEARTED (7) is racing consistently. Can hold rating here. HARBOUR GREY (8) was a terrific winner first-up, then not a lot of luck second-up. Given a freshen-up and well graded here with claim. HUSSY’S GLOW (11) is first-up here. Has run well fresh in past. Gets in well with claim MAGNESIUM ROSE (12) ran well first-up here. Only has to hold rating to be competitive. MASTERING (13) was super-impressive first-up for the new trainer after being gelded. Second and third have won and been placed since. RASPBERRY ROSE (14) is unbeaten fresh. Resumes here and has solid claims.

Race 8 - Drinkwise Handicap (1600m)

Selections: 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11

PALMATEER (3) had no luck last start here. Hard to beat here with a clear run. EXTREME BLISS (5) is racing consistently. Has claims if can run a strong mile. FRENCH GIRL (6) put in a terrific run on the pace last start. Has claims if she can repeat that performance. VITANI (7) looked to have every chance last start. Steps to the mile for the first time. Good chance if can hold rating. I’M BUXOM (9) ran well second-up off a long spell. Ran well third-up last prep at this distance. Senior rider goes on. OUR CHIQUILLA (11) is racing consistently. Steps to mile for first time but will be thereabouts for Weir.
