Moonee Valley Quaddie Preview

Pro-punter Trevor Lawson returns with his Moonee Valley Quaddie tips for Saturday.

A skinny second leg looms as the key, with Trev backing either Marcel From Madrid or Brutal to get the job done.

Race 6 - 1PRINT Handicap (2040m)

Selections: 2, 3, 10, 13, 14

Pacodali (2) was five weeks between runs last start. Previous run was good and can bounce back here. Morton’s Fork (3) put in a strong effort last start this track and distance, running a quick time. Can roll forward here from wide barrier. Mr Clarify (10) terrific run at big odds beyond Morton’s Fork last start. Can run to less than that and still be competitive here. Sikandarabad (13) has improved each run in Australia. Fifth-up here to 2000 metres, could improve again. Mantastic (14) couldn’t get into the race last start when slow away. Previous form good for this.

Race 7 - McMahon's Dairy McKenzie Stakes (1200m)

Selections: 1, 5

Marcel From Madrid (1) is an undefeated 3YO who produced a big figure in fast time second-up in Adelaide. Have rated just off that. Brutal (5) had six weeks off since debut win when ran a blistering time, producing very high rating.

Race 8 - Carlyon Stakes (1000m)

Selections: 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11

Hey Doc (1) resumes here. Good record fresh and unbeaten at Valley, albeit over longer trips. 1000m may be too short, but has winning ways. Quilista (3) ran terrific all last prep in first prep for Weir. Consistent type who should produce figure here first-up. I’m Wesley (4) is a former Tassie galloper who has run well all three runs on mainland. Should run well here. Faatinah (5) is a consistent galloper who rates well but does struggle to win. First-up off Dubai prep. Mr Sneaky (8) has a good record fresh albeit over further. Will be hitting line hard. Bandipur (9) is racing well winning past two. Has run well here in past. Super Too (11) is a flying mare who resumes here. Drawn wide but can cross. Will be in it for a long way.

Race 9 - Harrolds Handicap (1519m)

Selections: 1, 2, 7, 9, 16

The Taj Mahal (1) resumes here. Stable have targeted this with several in the past. Best form over slightly further but a quality horse. Chamois Road (2) consistent type who rarely runs a bad race. Maps well here and will be thereabouts. Odeon (7) ran honestly first-up. Has run well second-up in past. Has some claims. Theanswermyfriend (9) returned to form last start, winning at Flemington. Maps to find front again, has sound claims. Night’s Watch (16) terrific effort at Flemington resuming. Progressive type who ran well first-up.
