With 3 huge games on Thursday, our man brings you his NBA preview for each game complete with betting tips.
Miami Heat @ Charlotte Hornets - 11am
Miami have dropped 6 of their last 10 and are coming up against a playoffs rival here in Charlotte. It’s starting to become desperate for the Heat.
Injuries to Hassan Whiteside, Dion Waiters and Goran Dragic have made this team seriously hard to gauge. No Dragic again tomorrow means more minutes for Dwayne Wade who is finding form at the right time of the season.
However at the moment Miami is trotting out lineups with no point guards, making ball movement tough.
Luckily for Charlotte this isn’t an away game, given they hold an abysmal away record. Of course the flip side of that is a 20-13 home record, which is great for a 9th seed team.
Their last 10 games reads even worse than Miami’s effort with only 3 wins coming.
Expect Kemba Walker to be the danger man given the Heat don’t really have a good match-up to shut him down right now.
I think this will be a close contest but I have a slight lean towards Miami. I’m taking a ‘pick your own line’ on Miami +5.5, available at $1.55 with BetEasy.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Detroit Pistons - 11am
Minnesota are playing well below standard this year, and their away record reflects that.
At 9–24 on the road, the T’wolves will struggle in this one against red-hot Detroit Pistons team.
Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson are proving to be an important scoring punch despite limited minutes. Given the Pistons have a weak bench defensively, this could be another opportunity for Rose and Gibson to shine.
After a rocky start to the season, the Pistons are finally starting to gel.
Blake Griffin is causing serious problems against every opposition they face to lead the charge and potentially deliver his side a playoffs berth.
Detroit is 19-12 at home this season and have won 8 of their last 10 to make them one of the hottest teams in the league right now.
Wayne Ellington is providing the 3-point shooting that they desperately lacked, and it just makes the Pistons offense so much harder to defend.
The Pistons at $1.60 BetEasy is murder in my opinion. The in-form team in the league against a team with well known struggle away from home, seems to be a good bet.
Denver Nuggets @ LA Lakers - 2:30pm (ESPN)
The Nuggets are shooting themselves in the foot right now.
3 straight losses and only 5 wins in their last 10 games has the Nuggets are in their worst form of this season.
This is probably more the team that people expected this season than the 42-21 Nuggets, so it could be them coming back to earth if you have a pessimistic view on their season.
Gary Harris and the bench group look to be lacking form, which will need to turn around quickly.
The Nuggets will need a little bit more luck just like this Gary Harris shot to get a win here.
The Lakers are in massive trouble, with just a 1% chance to make the playoffs.
LeBron is seriously not happy right now but even if it’s a 1% chance he will put his blood sweat and tears into these final games to make playoffs.
A big plus here is that they’re playing the Nuggets at home, especially given Denver’s struggles on the road this season.
The bad news is there will be no Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball or Kyle Kuzma.
The Nuggets have to break out of their funk eventually, and this seems to be the game to do it. At $1.69 with BetEasy they seem a good bet.
Miami +5.5 – $1.55
Detroit to win – $1.60
Denver to win – $1.63
All markets available with BetEasy.
