With 3 huge games on Saturday, our man brings you his NBA preview for each game complete with betting tips.
San Antonio Spurs @ Toronto Raptors - 11am
The Toronto Raptors have won their last 5 games and have the second-best home record in the NBA at 25-5.
Kyle Lowry has been struggling of late with a back issue, while Kawhi Leonard likewise with niggling knee issues. Kawhi is facing his old team again and will look for revenge after going down in San Antonio.
For the Spurs this game is all about DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan made no secrets about being hurt when he was traded over summer. In his first game back in his old haunt he will look to impress again after recording a triple-double at home against the Raptors.
The Spurs, however, are in a poor stretch of form with 4 losses from their last 5 games. DeRozan has been dealing with injuries over that stretch and will have used the All-Star break to get his body right.
His fitness will have a huge bearing on who wins this one.
BetEasy has set the line at 7.5, and my recommendation is to be on the Spurs at the + here. They’ve been out of form but a rested DeRozan will be ready to fire again.
Denver Nuggets @ Dallas Mavericks - 12:30pm
Dallas are one of the harder teams to read, especially since they traded away Harrison Barnes for the injured Kristaps Porzingis.
However, on the back of soon-to-be Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic they are still winning games and causing upsets. With a 20-9 home winning record, the Mavericks will not lay down without a fight.
The Denver Nuggets scrapped their way into the All-Star break and looked like they badly needed a rest.
Now after a week off they will be rejuvenated and, for the first time this season, should have a full roster available to play.
With the depth of Denver’s squad, the individual points lines will likely be too high for each player. It could represent value for the unders but an even roster is too hard to predict.
Instead my recommendation for this game is to take Dallas at the +6.5 ‘pick your own line’ with BetEasy at $1.65.
Seems to be good value as Denver has lost their last 3 road games and the Mavericks need a win to keep their fading playoff hopes alive.
Utah Jazz @ Oklahoma City Thunder - 1:30pm
The Thunder have won 4 of their last 5 and look in good touch. Westbrook has accumulated 11 straight triple doubles now, and it could be an interesting prop bet for him to claim his 12th.
New signing Markieff Morris will debut tomorrow night and will be sure to add more spacing for the Thunder. His 3-point shooting will also help given it’s something that OKC have lacked.
OKC have a staggeringly good home record at 20-7, making it a tough place for anyone to go and get a win.
After a slow start to the season, the Jazz have only lost 6 games in 2019. The run has moved them into 6th in the West and well and truly back into playoff contention.
Their 14-15 away record is not doing them any favours here though. The Jazz beat OKC in the playoffs last season, they’ll be hoping they can channel that team tomorrow night to knock off the Thunder.
I recommend OKC head-to-head here, with BetEasy offering $1.60 for the home side to get the job done.
Westbrook and Paul George have been tough to stop lately, with George in MVP form. After tangling with Joe Ingles in last year’s playoffs, he will be looking to get one back against the Australian.
