Eels v Manly: NRL Round 11
The Eels fell back to earth last weekend, after beating the Panthers the week earlier, and their defence was poor against resurgent Roosters. I think this may have been partly because of how much energy they exerted the week earlier to beat the high-flying Panthers. As we saw with the Sharks against the Raiders, after beating the Warriors with only 12 men the week earlier, the Sharks crashed out against the Raiders… and I think this might have been a factor with the Eels unable to back up as well as they would have liked.
This weekend the Eels look even stronger with Niukore back on the bench, and when you factor in Nathan Brown also being relegated to the bench for the insanely in-form Ryan Matterson, you can see why I thought this Eels team was a huge chance of top finish in 2022.

In terms of last week’s efforts, Manly were even worse than the Eels and so I think the Eels are deserved favourites here. But with Manly’s forward pack looking close to full strength, I think they are a chance of putting up a big fight here.
But in my opinion it’s not clear if Tom T is fully fit, so it’s very hard to put your money on Manly.
Predicted score: Eels v Manly
Eels 24
Manly 18
