Tigers vs Warriors: NRL Round 3

Both teams head into this winless, but with the Tigers missing one of their few solid players in Jackson Hastings and following a horrible performance against the Knights, the Warriors are deserved favourites here.

Wests players attracted more attention with news that James Roberts and Daine Laurie were playing the pokies the night before the game. While that is totally fine in my books, both guys were very ordinary against the Knights, and to me it is now clear Coach McGuire is on his last legs. There is no leadership at the club and with Adam Doueihi out injured until the middle of the year, the Tigers are missing the guy that I would have appointed as sole captain in 2022.

Returning to Campbeltown gives them some hope, as they do seem to play better at their suburban home grounds, but overall there is not much to like about Wests this year. Although some optimists point to their performance against the Storm, that was a Storm team missing a ton of talent both before the game and during the game…and the Storm still won by 10 at Wests home ground!

I know I may be accused of being biased as I have tipped the winless Warriors to surprise everyone and make the top eight, I do think Warriors have been a little unlucky in their losses this year. The Titans had some huge decisions go their way and although the Warriors deserved to lose, I think the Warriors have shown far more promise than Wests so far this year.

Matt Lodge went off with heat exhaustion after 20 minutes and this clearly took a toll, with the forward leader unable to get out there and help out Fonua-Blake in the middle. I think these two will be the difference here, spearheading the more dominant Warriors forward pack and providing the space for Walsh and Nikorima to create the points for the win.

Tigers vs Warriors: Predicted score

Warriors 25
Wests 18
