NRL Tips expert Steve Green has previewed the huge Friday night clash between the Parramatta Eels and Sydney Roosters.
Despite back to back wins, the Eels are still being given an 8-point head start by the bookies this weekend.
I know they are playing the 2018 premiers, who will welcome back Cronk and Friend… but on my ratings, the Eels are right in this match and that head-start is very juicy!
Although we haven’t had a good start in terms of the first two rounds of best, the most crazy-brave prediction I made was for the Eels to make the 8 this year.
While there is a long way to go, I think the Eels are showing some promising signs. Firstly, guys like Gutherson, Moses and Ferguson are showing everyone what they are capable of, with stellar starts to the season.
And as I predicted, Mahoney and Brown have started the season very strongly, as have new recruits Paulo and Lane.
With news coming through today that Terepo will not be sacked for his off-field indiscretions, there is every chance the rampaging back rower is given a bench spot this weekend.
With Ma’u and Brown still to return, this Eels forward pack is going to surprise a lot of people as the season progresses.
However, I am conscious of how much of a step up in class this will be.
The Panthers and Doggies are a fair way off where the Roosters are and although they are struggling with injuries to two of their first-choice wingers (Morris and Hall), this is still a very mean looking Roosters line up.
While the Eels have piled on the points, averaging 28 in their first two matches, I think they will find the Roosters’ defence much harder going.
Similarly, while the Roosters have managed to score some points in their two games, I think the Eels defence is not given enough credit, averaging only 14 points conceded in their opening 2 games.
I think that this one will be far closer than the market thinks and lower scoring too.
Recommended Bet: Parramatta Eels +8
