Rabbitohs vs Tigers preview from expert NRL analyst Steve Green, including recommended bet.

I think Souths have been a real let down in 2020. While they were missing key players early on, their lack of forward punch has been exposed in nearly every game. Murray, Cook and Tom Burgess are all playing well, but after that things get a little lean. Knight, Sironen, Su’a and Tatola are all good players and need to step up if Souths are going to be any threat in 2020.

In years past, Souths could rely on the Burgess brothers and then the likes of Sutton and Murray to maintain their go-forward, but in 2020 Souths have the fifth lowest Run Metres Made. And despite the likes of Roberts, Walker and Mitchell, Souths are ninth for line breaks. They’re falling well short of the attacking powerhouse I thought they would be in 2020.

However, Wests are facing their own team changes for this one. With Joey suspended and Tommy Talau injured at training, Coach McGuire has had to move Chee-Kam to starting centre and promote Reece Hoffman to the starting team at wing. Chee-Kam has proven he can get the job done out wide, while Hoffman has some big wraps. The 19-year-old should be ready to take on Gagai tonight.

Wests still have their spine intact, and that has been their secret weapon of 2020. Grant at 9, Doueihi at 1 and Brooks, Reynolds or Benji in the halves. Despite not being rated as a dangerous spine before the season kicked off, I think that they have gelled very well. As we saw from the Panthers game last weekend, this Tigers team might not sound great on paper, but everyone knows their job and they are all under pressure to maintain their spot.

While I think the Souths line up is starting to look strong and I am expecting the likes of Roberts to start finding his feet, I think this game could go either way. I thought the head start was too big for a Wests team that has been competitive all year.

Wests have the fourth lowest line breaks conceded (behind only Panthers, Roosters and Storm), while also having the fifth lowest error rate in the competition. Wests are a fit, disciplined and well-drilled team that always makes it hard for their opponents.
