So what relevance does this have for horse racing?

Well it’s impossible to accurately assess the merit of a performance by simply watching the replay or reading a form guide. Those are just pieces of the puzzle and without accurate individual and incremental sectional times you will struggle to identify the best horses to follow from a meeting.
