Race 1 – #THERACES HANDICAP (2000m)

1st ANTONIO GUISEPPE – Koby Jennings (a)
2nd MORE TO GAIN – Peter Wells
3rd FOUR CARAT – Jason Collett

Good line out of the gates with Antonio Guiseppe and Cramming coming across to lead from Four Carat on the rails and Oh So Splendido next. Salthouse was next on the fence from Mandalong Kiss and More to Gain, with Plot Twist at the back.

Favourite Antonio Guiseppe pressed on to be outright leader along the back, Cramming holding second and Four Carat third as they formed an orderly line. They remained that way much of the journey, Mandalong Kiss just a little deeper and being felt for by Banks as they hit the side of the course. The leader cruised around the last turn in control with Jennings still very relaxed, and he remained that way as his mount lengthened nicely to move away in the straight. Four Carat kept punching and More to Gain came with somewhat of a late rally, but the result was never in doubt.

Watch: Antonio Guiseppe.

Race 2 – 2016 QUEEN’S CUP (2400m)

1st ALLERGIC – James McDonald
2nd JUNOOB – Brenton Avdulla
3rd ALEGRIA – Tim Clark

Pretty neat line out at the 2400m, Reith letting Chaquinta roll forward out of the straight and take the lead from Zero to Ten on the inside. Junoob was next, then Allergic and Allegria a couple of lengths back.

No sooner had Reith surrendered the lead, allowing Zero to Ten forward again and taking a sit in behind. With that Zero to Ten took off, nobody bothering to chase, and opened up a lead of four lengths along the back of the course. They eventually bunched up past the 1000m mark, and it was Clark taking off on Alegria and turning up the speed rapidly. The rest immediately responded, Junoob and Allergic most urgently, with both shadowing Alegria into the straight. All battled it out but it was Allergic the strongest.

Watch: Allergic, Junoob.

1st DISTINCTIVE LOOK – Koby Jennings (a)
2nd SHOTGUN ROULETTE – Tye Angland
3rd NOT FOR EXPORT – Andrew Banks

Beach Head went out hardest from inside to take the lead with Cool in Black, Coming in Hot across from deeper and favourite Shotgun Roulette next on the fence. Destined to Win was next from Van Halen and Sadhika, then Distinctive Look, Trying, Doesn’t Make Sense, Not for Export, Luxury, Admission, Robusta and Vella Lonchick at the back of a well strung-out field.

Beach Head led strongly along the side of the course with the big field bunching up somewhat, the challengers interrupted in the straight with a collision between Shotgun Roulette and Coming in Hot which also sent Destined to Win reeling. Shotgun Roulette recovered well to take the lead until Distinctive Look attacked with momentum down the outside to swallow them up.

Watch: Distinctive Look, Not for Export.

1st ZENALICIOUS – Tim Clark
2nd INVINCIBELLA – James McDonald
3rd OVERSTEP – Tye Angland

Competitive start with Overstep and Rosa Carolina unable to be split for the lead and Pecans in just behind them. Invincibella was next with Smart Amelia outside, then Fabvier and Purrari, and Zenalicious and Bring Me The Bling last of all.

Rosa Carolina edged ahead to take the lead, working hard two-wide, but it was Overstep saving ground to lead into the straight. Invincibella loomed up and just managed to take the lead, but both of them seemed to be battling somewhat as Zenalicious cruised past, on top of the ground in comparison.

Watch: none.

Race 5 – STAN FOX STAKES (1500m)

1st IMPENDING – James McDonald
2nd DIVINE PROPHET – Christian Reith
3rd GOOD STANDING – Rory Hutchings

Good start with Thornum going forward outside of Good Standing, then Cellarman, Divine Prophet, Mediterranean and Impending whipping them in.

Cellarman appeared a little keen and moved up outside of Good Standing, with Thornum having crossed to the fence in the lead, and Good Standing and Impending getting good runs on the fence behind. A lot of movement out of the turn, Thorum shifting out and giving Good Standing a look up the inside, whilst Impending followed Mediterranean right out wide and eventually got an open look. Reith shoved Divine Prophet through to snatch the lead and go for home, with Impending putting in a big run wider out to just take the win. Both placegetters were brave.

Watch: Impending, Divine Prophet, Good Standing.

1st VELADERO – Rory Hutchings
2nd HONEYWINE – James McDonald
3rd PRIZED ICON – Blake Shinn

Veladero and Oculist both came across from wide gates to head them off and lead, followed in by Prized Icon and Coonawarra, outside and into the wind. Stablemates Honeywine and Retaliation were next, then High Mist, Tumultuous, Swear and Lasqueti Spirit.

The raiders came from the outside out of the turn, Retaliation hitting its straps and High Mist further out making ground, but the leader Veladero was holding sway and looking strong. Honeywire moved up just on the outside on the leader, and joined a line including Retaliation, Prized Icon and Swear to form a grandstand finish, with none ultimately able to nose the leader.

Watch: Retaliation, Prized Icon

1st TYCOON TARA – Joshua Parr
2nd DIXIE BLOSSUMS – Tim Clark
3rd PEARLS – James McDonald

Tysoon Tara led out with some speed from Dixie Blossoms putting in hard from outside and Denmagic back next. Pearls moved up to fourth from First Seal, then Ammirata, Heavens Above, Serene Majesty, Sold for Song and Zanbagh.

No change to the order with First Seal and Denmagic well placed to attack out of the turn, and Dixie Blossoms on the leader’s flank and not going away. Tycoon Tara was too good however, leading strongly from gate to post. First Seal and Heavens Above hit the line quite well.

Watch: Tycoon Tara, Heavens Above.

Race 8 – SHANNON STAKES (1500m)

1st MORAL VICTORY – Jason Collett
2nd CAPED CRUSADER – Kathy O’Hara
3rd COSMIC CUBE – Rory Hutchings

Well contested start with plenty of speed, Caped Crusader working hard to hold off Hi World and Entirely Platinum and eventually cross to the fence in front. Cosmic Cube sat back in fourth, then Moral Victory, Old North and Unequivocal.

O’Hara had to keep the foot down on Caped Crusader to maintain the lead, and Entirely Platinum and Hi World peeled out into the straight, Cosmic Cube shunting with the latter for speed. Moral Victory meanwhile was behind the leader, boxed in on the fence. O’Hara went to the stick to try to get the leader home, opening up a slight gap which sent Moral Victory out and around and joining Cosmic Cube to run down Caped Crusader. Once he found space Moral Victory had by far the better speed and took it comfortably.

Watch: Moral Victory, Caped Crusader.

1st EXTENSIBLE – Blake Shinn
2nd BULLRUSH – Christian Reith
3rd O’REILLY’S REVENGE – Deanne Panya (a)

Bullrush was hardest out leading from Harry Hotspur, Herne’s Oak and O’Reilly’s Revenge, with a gap to Dinghu Mountain and Extenisble. Dylan’s Rojo was next from Pindan Pearl, then Happy Hannah, Encosta Line, Vassal and Magical Stance.

Little change out of the turn, Harry Hotspur still just off the leader, with Herne’s Oak next. Extensible was next widest and going beautifully, Shinn barely having to move until he neared the leader and just asked for a little, his mount streaming away to justify favouritism and get one for the punters in the last.

Watch: Extensible.

Horses to follow: Antonio Guiseppe, Impending, Divine Prophet, Heavens Above, Extenisble.
