There was plenty of excitement last weekend leading up to Nathan Snow’s first Saturday heading up our ratings service. A normal Saturday will be full coverage of the metro meeting and late alerts (via the live page and SMS) for the provincial meeting.

Here is how the day panned out starting with Rosehill:

Race 1

We backed 4 horses including the winner Marple Miss so it was a 1.25u profit on an outlay of 2.75u. Our other overlays ran 2nd and 3rd (at $9 and $17) so exotics players had a big result, although that is not an official betting strategy.

Race 2
Our top rater Centre Pivot was under our rated price of $2.10 so we had a small outlay on the race with 2 bets for a total of 0.90 units and a best result of 3rd with Koroibete.

Race 3
We bet 1.74 units here which included Monitoro 0.2u win by 0.60 place. 3 bets on the race for a 2nd and 3rd which was a good place collect of 3.30 units.

Race 4
Nathan suggested that Lady Jivago ‘has ability and is the value runner here’ and she returned us 8.10u on a 3.70u outlay (it was a level 3 race which is the second highest confidence level).

Race 5
No return on a 2.80 unit outlay after Delectation for whatever reason just didn’t finish the race off.

Race 6
Catkins was top-rater but unders, so we took her on to the tune of 1.85 units (backing 4 horses relatively small) but Lillburlero just couldn’t quite get there.

Race 7
Nathan’s race comment said that ‘Tales Of Grimm looks to have plenty of talent and trials like a nice horse’. We bet 2.75 units on this race (another level 3) and despite missing the start he got the job done in style and we also had the runner-up Tahitian Black. A 9 unit collect there.

Race 8
We backed 4 horses in total and had the runner up Mighty Lucky, but not the winner Burbero so it was a 3.20u loss on the level 3 race.

Nathan also covered the Newcastle meeting but as mentioned earlier it was via a late SMS and live page service rather than the full early set. Here is how it panned out:

Race 1
2 unit outlay for a big collect of 10.40u thanks to Knit ‘n’ Purl at $13 officially, although a number of members got on at $17 for an even bigger result.

Race 2
Two small bets (total outlay 1.05u) for a 2nd and 4th.

Race 3
Three small bets on longshots (total outlay of 1.08u) but no joy.

Race 4
Nathan liked this race and we bet 3.90 units across 4 horses but we came 2nd.

Race 5
Three bets for 2.30u out but no return after some bad luck in running.

Race 6
Three bets for 2.60u out for a big collect of 9.80u thanks to the win of Shalmaneser.

Race 7
We had four small bets for 2.05u out but no collects.

Race 8
We finished with a bang thanks to the $15 win of Graft which meant a 6.75u collect after outlaying 1.85u.

So it was a busy and exciting but most importantly very profitable day:
7 winners from 16 races (44% race strike-rate)
15 units profit on an outlay of just over 36 units (29% profit on turnover)
$1483 profit for those betting $100 per unit
